📍 Rohri Railway Station – A Glimpse into History

🚉 Rohri is one of the oldest cities in Sindh, and its railway station holds great historical and strategic importance. Known as one of the major junctions in Pakistan, Rohri connects the country from Karachi to Peshawar, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Quetta. Almost every major train passes through this iconic station.

But few know that the site where the station stands today was once a graveyard of Rizvi Syeds, located on a hill called Lahori Takri – named after the silk merchants from Lahore who once settled here. At that time, the mighty Indus River used to flow right by this hill.

Buried here are the revered Syed Mir Miran and Syed Yaqub Rizvi, ancestors of Nawab Mir Yaqub Rizvi, Governor of Bukhara during Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb’s rule. When the station was built, a tunnel was carved under the hill to make way for trains.
