Using a 1/4" aluminum pate and a couple hours, you can eliminate transom splashing and cavitation when trimmed up on your outboard powered jonboat.
Even after raising our motor 2" above the bottom, the inherent flat bottom design of the typical jonboat caused splashing and turbulence that bounces off the lower unit, resulting in a lot of drag and water splashing up all over the transom.
This simple plate does double duty, it ends splashing and acts as a cavitation plate as well, all for around $30.
We also picked up 2 mph on the top end and a much flatter and faster holeshot.

We used a 1/4" 5052 aluminum H32 treated plate from Amazon, and four 1.25" stainless bolt, washer, and locknut sets.
Total cost: $29.90
