PAF VETERANS WITNESS MULTINATIONAL AIR EXERCISE INDUS SHIELD-2023
20 October, 2023: A delegation of distinguished Pakistan Air Force veterans witnessed the ongoing prestigious PAF 14-nation mega international air exercise, Indus Shield-2023. The veterans were warmly received by Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force who personally briefed them on PAF's modernization drive and the inclusion of cutting-edge technologies from allied countries. During their visit, the veterans were also provided comprehensive insights into the aims and objectives of Exercise Indus Shield, which stands as one of the most significant aerial exercises in the region. The exercise, designed to enhance interoperability among participating nations, signifies the leading role of the Pakistan Air Force in spearheading technological advancements, promoting modernization, evolving air combat tactics and addressing contemporary defence challenges faced by regional countries.
Speaking at the occasion, the Air Chief highlighted that Exercise Indus Shield-2023, orchestrated by the Airpower Center of Excellence, has reaffirmed Pakistan Air Force's unwavering commitment to remain at the forefront of military aviation. He reiterated the PAF's resolve to adapt to the ever-evolving demands of modern aerial combat scenarios and highlighted that the exercise will foster international cooperation to strengthen relationship between the participating air forces. The Air Chief also emphasized the critical role played by Air Power Centre of Excellence to act as a beacon of innovation within the Pakistan Air Force, dedicated to advancing the knowledge and capabilities of the force through the development and application of state-of-the-art technologies, tactics and strategies in aerial warfare. Chief of the Air Staff further said, "The presence and guidance of the esteemed PAF veterans at aerial Exercise Indus Shield-2023 serves as a source of inspiration for the next generation of PAF air and ground crew enabling them to absorb invaluable insights and expertise."
The veterans, deeply impressed by the PAF's strides in becoming a technologically advanced air force, expressed their admiration for Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu's strategic vision in steering Pakistan Air Force towards becoming a Next Generation Air Force. They expressed admiration for the incorporation of smart technologies, IT, Cyber, Artificial Intelligence and Space innovations within the PAF's operational framework. The veterans also highlighted that Exercise Indus Shield-2023 provides a glimpse of the future of combat aviation and expressed their firm belief that it would significantly enhance PAF's operational capabilities in achieving force goals.
