#44: I think this is one of the most extraordinary songs of the last 20 years, and the words are so prophetic, given that they were written in 2013.
Now more than ever, we know that technology listens to every word we say, gathers the crumbs of every cookie online, it uses its algorithms to tailor content to us, and now with AI, we are becoming one with technology. I love the question the song poses at the end: "Is that wrong? Isn't this what you want?"
It also showed me the possibilities of using a talk box for amazing harmonies, which I find so cool in this song. I used an 8 part choral arrangement I found online, and 8 years ago when I first tried recording this song, it was an absolute disaster! It's still incredibly difficult to tune singing in both normal voice and falsetto, but it's nice to be able to have a version decent enough to post.
