For those that don't know, Skateland was the venue (by night) where many of the most legendary soundsystem sessions of 80's Kingston happened - a true breeding ground for some of reggae music's biggest talent, emerging from the 70's roots to early dancehall sounds that later went into 'digital explosion' around 1985, with new technology finding it's way to Kingston via the engineers and producers, many of which would've frequented Skateland along with the rest of Kingston's scene at the time.
