The Lungerersee is located in the eponymous Obwalden municipality Lungern. The lake, also called Lungernsee, is the second largest in the canton of Obwalden after Lake Sarnen. The Lake Lungern is nestled in a magnificent mountain scenery. The natural reservoir is based at an altitude of 687 meters above sea level at the end of the Sarneraatals. It is fed by, among others, the Lauibach, the Dundelbach or the Gerenbach, while the Sarner Aa leaves the Lungerersee at Kaiserstuhl. The Obwalden Lake is a good two kilometers long and just under a kilometer wide. The maximum depth of the Lungernsee is almost 70m. On the eastern shore of the lake, the Brünigstrasse leads along.
