About the Guest:
An alumnus of the Government Law College, Mumbai, Mr. Julio F. Ribeiro joined the Indian Police Service in 1953 and rose to be the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai from 1982 to 1985. Later he served in quick succession as Director General - Central Reserve Police Force, Director General of Police - Gujarat, Special Secretary to the Government of India's Home Ministry, Director General of Police - Punjab and finally Advisor to the Governor of Punjab. Post retirement, he was appointed as Ambassador to Romania where he served for four years from 1989 to 1993. The then Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee had asked him to be Governor of Jammu & Kashmir but he declined because of his involvement in social work in his native city of Mumbai. He is the Founding Trustee of Public Concern for Governance Trust, a non-profit organization in Mumbai that works towards achieving transparency and accountability in governance. He also headed the Mohalla Ekta Committee, which seeks to bring about communal harmony between the diverse communities in the city of Mumbai. Besides other awards, Mr. Ribeiro is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan in 1987.

About the Host:
Mr. Shivam Jain Kakadia is a lawyer, policy analyst, public speaker and mentor to aspiring lawyers. He graduated in legal sciences and law from the Government Law College, Mumbai, and was awarded the Yashwant Dalal Trophy for Overall Best Student as well as the Nivedita Nathany Memorial Award for Leadership and Academic Excellence. He has been invited as a judge for various national and international moot courts, Model UN conferences, and debates, and he actively coaches students participating in such activities. Shivam is also a recipient of the Duke of Edinburgh's International Gold Award for showcasing outstanding leadership and community service, and he continues to work for educational equity and accountability in governance.
