To get started, open the Telegram app and make sure you're logged into your account. From your main chat list, identify the chat or message thread from the unknown user you wish to block. Tap on the conversation to open it. Then, tap on the three-dot icon located in the upper right corner of the screen. From the dropdown menu, select the 'Block User' option.

In some versions of Telegram or on certain devices, the block feature might appear after tapping on the user’s name at the top of the chat window. This opens their profile page, where you’ll see the 'Block User' option directly. Once selected, Telegram will ask you to confirm your choice. After blocking, that person won’t be able to send you any further messages.

If you prefer, you can also delete the chat while blocking, which helps to clear up your chat history as well. Note that blocking someone doesn’t notify them—they’ll simply stop being able to reach you through Telegram.

To review or manage your blocked users, go to Telegram Settings Privacy and Security Blocked Users. From here, you can unblock someone anytime if needed.
