Iran has reportedly deployed the Sejjil-2 “Dancing Missile” for the first time in the ongoing Iran–Israel war. The Sejjil-2 ballistic missile, a two-stage solid-fuel medium-range missile with a range of about 2,000 km, is capable of carrying a 700 kg warhead and reaching Israeli territory from Iran.
Nicknamed the “dancing missile” because of its mid-flight manoeuvrability, the weapon is designed to evade advanced missile defence systems such as Israel’s Iron Dome. Iran said the missile was launched during the latest wave of attacks under Operation True Promise 4 as the conflict in West Asia enters its third week.
The Sejjil missile program began in the 1990s, with its first successful test conducted in 2008. The development marks another escalation in the rapidly intensifying Iran-Israel conflict, with missile and drone strikes continuing across the region.
