Two Stanford aerospace majors, Daniel Becerra and Charlie Cox, won a grant to push the limits of amateur high-altitude exploration using a scientific balloon and a custom-designed rocket. The final launch was a success: their rocket launched at 30,000 feet in Kern County, California, and soared to 45,000 feet. All systems checked out perfectly.
