Keeping oil refineries operating is vital if 'national security is important'

Liberal Senator Jim Molan says the closures of oil refineries in Western Australia and Victoria could be an issue if Australia needs to be self-sustaining in every facet.
“We have been prosperous because of American power, we’ve been secure because of American power, and we’ve embraced globalisation so we buy anything cheap from overseas,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
Mr Molan said the world is entering the most unstable period of history since World War II and Australia needs to prepare and protect itself.
“If there’s more to this, if national security is important, we need to be able to pull crude out of our ground … and we need to be able to refine it in this country.”
