Описание: Sweet Bear arrived at the Humane Society of Broward County in November and he was small and weak. The adorable tuxedo kitty was placed in a volunteer foster home where he got lots of TLC. His foster mom noticed his balance was off and he had an unusual gait, often high stepping. The shelter arranged for a consultation with Southeast Veterinary Neurology where Bear met Dr. Reese. After his exam, Dr. Reese concluded that Bear’s walking is consistent with a problem within his balance (vestibular) system, particularly the cerebellum. The cerebellum is also a part of the brain that coordinates movements, leading to more spastic (hypermetric) movements when abnormal. This can be a problem kittens have congenitally, where the cerebellum doesn't form right (cerebellar hypoplasia). Bear was likely born with this condition. The good news is, it has not progressed (and usually does not) and Bear is like other active felines. He likes to play, is curious…he just can’t jump up. Now seven months old, Bear is ready to find his forever home. Could you be the perfect family for him? Bear is still with his foster family, so call the shelter at 954-989-3977 ext. 6 to arrange a meet and greet.
