Sadly, this mindset is not limited to food production. Some unscrupulous Caridina sellers focus entirely on profit, treating shrimp as mere products rather than living creatures. They cut costs, mass-produce shrimp in poor conditions, and sell them without regard for their health or the long-term success of their customers.
For these sellers, shrimp are not cherished pets; they are numbers on a spreadsheet. They ship weak, sickly shrimp without proper care, leaving hobbyists heartbroken when they die. But we, as responsible hobbyists, must do better—demanding ethical sellers and treating our shrimp with the dignity they deserve.
