The Gift of Peace
Millennials and GenZ are the most anxious generations on record. While it is important to discern the cause, today's readings direct us to the source of healing: Jesus.
All humans desire peace because God created us to live in peace. His created intent was that all creation would be at peace with itself. The Hebrew word for peace in the Old Testament is ‘shalom’, which can also be understood as harmony.
When Adam and Eve sinned against God, they broke the harmony between God, humanity, and creation. Since then, man has relentlessly pursued peace in every conceivable mode, but as we read in Jeremiah 6 and John 14, true shalom/harmony/peace is a gift that can only come from Jesus.
