Most guitarists end their phrase before the next chord hits.
The pros do the opposite.
They play over the bar line so the phrase starts on the I chord and lands cleanly on the IV. That’s where solos start sounding intentional instead of accidental.
In this lesson, I break down a blues lick that does exactly that, then push it further with chromatic notes to create outside tension before resolving it.
