Karen Ford is a mixed media artist working in watercolor, acrylic and collage. A Costa Mesa resident, her work has won awards in juried shows in Southern California and has been featured in Mesa Verde Living magazine. Although she comes from a family of artists, Karen didn't discover her own love for making art until she took a drawing class in her 50s, following up in recent years studying watercolor at the Orange County Fine Arts Center. According to Karen, mixed media has loomed large in her practice, thanks in part to discovering monoprinting as a way of creating one-of-a-kind collage papers. She says creating her 2025 ARTventure Mixed Media Award winning entry “Collage Quilt #3” was a freeing process, bringing together color, form and layering in new ways for her as an artist.
