St. Simon of Trent was a 15th century martyr of Trent, Italy. His story is one of great controversy and tragedy. It is said that he was murdered by a band of those belonging to the group that called for Christ's crucifixion. St. Simon was part of the Roman Martyrology until after the Second Vatican Council. Sadly, his name has almost been forgotten. St. Simon should not be seen as a symbol of hatred against those who first called for Christ's crucifixion, but rather, as an inspiration to us to evangelize and work towards the conversion of all men, especially those who first called for the slaying of Christ.
