Original Darryl Pottorf Homage to Robert Rauschenberg Signed in a Heavy Frame
This exceptional piece is one of twenty that Robert Rauschenberg's protege and longtime collaborator, Darryl Pottorf produced as an homage to his longtime friend and mentor. It is a mixed media piece that features Bob Rauschenberg as a young boy in front of his family home and his first dog. This very personal piece of artwork is titled "First Love" and was produced at the Rauschenberg studio on Sanibel Island very shortly after the great man's death. Only 20 of these were created by Darryl Pottorf who is a listed artist of renown in his own right. They were intended for close friends and family, one of whom this piece was made for, as a member of the artist's inner circle. The artwork is framed in a vault-like extruded aluminum frame that is a proprietary design, used only by Rauschenberg and Pottorf, to the best of the owners knowledge, and covered by lucite on the front. There is some scratching on the frame that can be polished out, but it is otherwise very impressive.
