Lets explore where these koi have been living for the last 5 months! Here is the living quarters a 300 gallon tank in my garage. As you can see it is home to several koi other than the 4 you have just see. Is it over stocked yes, are they growing well yes, Can anyone get these results yes, How can I get these results? The system is a 300 gallon fibreglass tank Shoreham fibre glass I believe size is 3 by 6 feet old money and 90 by 180cm with a 4 inch pipe with a 90 elbow set above the floor of the tank on the opposite side and end to the shower. The water flows to an ultra sieve 3 which has an air bar in the inlet side of the sieve.The water is then pumped to a 60cm 3 tier shower cramped full of plastic and ceramic media. There is also an air bar in the tank which is driven by a 70 watt air pump. The other gear is a heater 500 watt heater to keep them cosy. As the tank is insulated with 25mm Kingsan it does require a power station to keep it warm. There is also a clear 16 mm poply-carbonate sheet over the top about 40cm above the water level to keep koi in and condensation in the tank! A Fishmate P7000 keeps the koi fed on a frequent feed setting. Maintaince is changing the filter matt once a day and 5mins to hose of old one. I top the auto feeder approx. once a week. Once a month I hose of the sieve grill/grid. That is it!
