[STORYLINE | THE PAST]
Hunters were created by magic during the Viking age. They were enemies to supernatural creatures, including the original vampires. One day, Klaus killed a hunter, thinking it was the last of its kind.

[STORYLINE | PRESENT DAYS]
The girl saves the original vampires from the World Serpent. It turns out that she is a hunter. Hatred of the witches forces them to form an alliance. Not all of the originals are happy about this union.
Later, when the huntress is faced with a choice: kill Klaus or save his life at the cost of her safety. She chooses to save Klaus.
Gradually, Elijah and Klaus develop feelings for her.
During the last fight, the huntress is killed. However, she survives by becoming a hybrid. Unable to control her powers, she kills Elijah. Blaming herself for his death, she tries to bring him back to life, but it doesn't work... Freya helps her. They bring Elijah back to life.
