Echigo-Yuzawa in Niigata Prefecture, Japan is one of the country’s most iconic winter destinations, known for abundant, fluffy powder snow and a long snow season perfect for snowboarding and skiing. Easily reachable from Tokyo by Shinkansen in under two hours, the Yuzawa area features more than a dozen ski resorts with terrain for beginners to advanced riders. Besides the snow, Yuzawa offers traditional hot springs (onsen), delicious local food, and a vibrant snow country culture that draws visitors from around the world every winter.

I am a snowboarder, kiteboarder, and snowkiter, living and teaching these passions as an experienced instructor settled in Yuzawa, Niigata, Japan. I teach snowboarding full-time through a local ski school across the 18 local ski resorts, including popular destinations like Ishiuchi Maruyama, Yuzawa Iwappara, and Prince Hotel Naeba.
