Purdue coach Matt Painter held a press conference on Thursday, March 27, 2025, ahead of the No. 4 seed Boilermakers' Sweet 16 matchup against No. 1 Houston in the 2025 NCAA March Madness men's basketball tournament.
Painter was asked about the NCAA's name, image and likeness (NIL) sponsorship deals for student athletes, the NCAA transfer portal and a seeming lack of upsets in the 2025 March Madness bracket.
"Some people come from a single-parent home, some didn't go to college, whatever," Painter said. "If we're just chasing basketball and we're devaluing education, what are we really doing here, right?"
