Is the Maine Coon the one breed that works for cat people and dog people alike? That's the reputation - a cat that plays fetch, follows you room to room, likes water, gets on with the dog, and looks like something that wandered out of a forest. For a lot of households, that reputation is completely earned. But there's another side nobody puts in the listing, and if you're seriously considering one, you need both halves before you decide.

In this video you get the complete picture - where they actually come from and which famous origin story is genetically impossible, how big they really get (the numbers online are inflated), what they're honestly like to live with, and then the reasons people end up regretting one. Including the health test you should ask any breeder about before anything else.

Nearly every reason to love a Maine Coon and every reason to avoid one are the same facts seen from different angles. Don't ask whether they're a good cat. Ask whether they're a good match for the life you actually live.

Are you thinking about getting a Maine Coon, or do you already have one?
