Skiing Blackcomb's Most Famous Couloir - D.O.A.

Описание: The Blackcomb backcountry is loaded with a lifetime of steep, technical and extreme ski lines. D.O.A. is the most renowned couloir at Whistler Blackcomb. It’s one of the longest and steepest resort-accessible couloir’s in all of North America. It's located a close hike from the resort and its beautiful rock walls can be seen from the 7th Heaven chairlift on Blackcomb mountain. It's some of the best bang for your buck, fall line, slackcountry skiing anywhere in the south coast.

The name D.O.A is controversial. Some refer to it as 'Death On Arrival', which is a very reasonable name for the chute, but I believe the real name is 'Down Over and Around', because that's how you get into the line.

D.O.A. is an awesome option to exit the Blackcomb backcountry or is a great target at any point in the day. The snowpack is fairly shallow so we expected steep, icy and rocky skiing, but it just so happened to be amazing.

The Blackcomb backcountry is very serious avalanche terrain, so if you venture off into it please have the right training, check forecasts and bring avi gear.
