This session critically examines the promises of net-zero energy and green design in European cities, distinguishing genuine sustainable practices from greenwashing - where lofty claims may overshadow real performance. Through policy-driven case studies and insights, our panel of policy speakers, designers, and young experts explore the regulatory frameworks and strategies that separate hype from concrete impact and how sound policies and innovative initiatives can drive authentic, sustainable energy transitions in urban spaces.
In line with the European Commission’s commitment to involving the younger generation in discussions on clean energy and to empowering emerging thought leaders, this session is organised by the 2024-2025 cohort of Young Energy Ambassadors in the framework of the European Youth Energy Day 2025
