'Shri Shiva-Baavani' - a poetical work by the 17th Century Indian poet 'Mahakavi' Bhushan, is a collection of 52 poems (in the 'Braj' language) composed in different meters ('Chhand'), in which he poetically illustrates several courageous endeavours of one of the most visionary, noble and intelligent king of his times - 'Chhatrapati' Shivaji Bhosale of Maharashtra (India).
During his lifetime, Shivaji Maharaj along with his Maratha warriors and team of skilled ministers & associates pioneered an effective freedom revolution against the contemporary Mughal, Persian, Portugese invaders & British colonisers who, in an attempt to (forcibly) establish their own religion in medieval India and exploit natural resources in the invaded territories, had been wreaking havoc on the native people and the motherland for centuries.
The current work is a musical interpretation of selected poems from the 'Shiva-Baavani' that would enable the listener to experience the spirit of courage and bravery ('Veer Rasa') in those poems in an additional (musical) dimension.
