Описание: Video of Mabel Cawthorn at her home in Carnesville, Georgia on May 22, 1986, part 1 of 5. She performs old-time songs on banjo, including "Trouble in Mind" and "Shout Lulu". Between songs, she talks about the decorations, memorabilia, dolls and photographs that are in her house. The camera focuses on a photograph of Cawthorn in her early 40's, posing with a banjo. She speaks about playing the banjo as a young woman, at square dances and house dances. She explains that people would both square dance and buck dance at these gatherings. Cawthorn herself liked buck dancing, and husband gave her the nickname "Buck." As a young woman she worked in cotton mills in South Carolina. Cawthorn talks about the ornament that is on her banjo, a breast pin that belonged to her older sister. Cawthorn speaks about the Governor pardoning her for her conviction for selling marijuana.
