#M.C.Mehta vs. Union of India, 1987, SC - Justice P.N.Bhagwati, while formulating the rule of Absolute Liability in the case of 'Bhopal Gas Tragedy', expressly stated that, where the enterprise has been engaged in Hazardous activity (like preparation of Methyl Isocyanate known as Bhopal Gas) which causes havoc (harm or injury or loss of life) to anyone on account of an accident or leaking of such harmful gases, the enterprise is absolutely liable to compensate/indemnify to all those who are adversely affected by such accident, irrespective of as to whether they are aware of the causes or not.
