Описание:
Electromotive force (EMF) and voltage are both related to electrical circuits and current flow, but they have several differences:
Definition
EMF is the potential difference between two terminals when there is no current flowing, while voltage is the potential difference between two points when current is flowing.
Magnitude
EMF has a greater magnitude and constant intensity, while voltage has a lower strength and is non-constant.
Cause and effect
EMF is the cause of voltage, while voltage is the effect of EMF.
Measuring instrument
EMF is measured using an EMF meter, while voltage is measured using a voltmeter.
Sources
EMF can be generated by solar cells, electric generators, and electrochemical cells, while voltage is generated by an electric or magnetic field.
Force operation
EMF is a Coulomb force operation, while voltage is a Non-Coulomb force operation.
Circuit resistance
EMF is not influenced by circuit resistance, while voltage is affected by the resistance of the circuit.
SI unit
Both EMF and voltage have the same SI unit, the volt.
