There was a sudden power outage... no lights on the horizon. Only a faint whimper of the star's light through the clouds. Endless darkness.

I took a walk with my headlamp on. It was stormy. Strong snowfall to make my lost orientation even worse. I couldn't help but start to think about that game I love playing for years. I was never really a gamer but that game just hooked me ever since I first played it... the Long Dark...

I took my camera and recorded the ambience this darkness created and couldn't stop thinking about a world without energy... no computers, no gasoline for our cars to be creating. No heating in most of the houses. No real lights anymore... just a long dark...

My mind was playing tricks on me. At one point I was thinking I see a ghost in front of me. The outlines of a person just standing there in the darkness... it was just a small tree with a cross stuck into it... something that would have lost all values in a world suddenly turned black... no hope, just survival remaining.

The power came back again... just for me to realize only a few days later that there was actually an almost-blackout in Europe. An almost-collapse... an almost-long-dark...

We've made ourselves vulnerable. We shouldn't forget the ways our ancestors lived, how they survived every day. How they made fire. How they cooked without electricity. How they've created shelter without machines. We shouldn't forget that way of living completely... but you don't have to take my words serious. I'm just a guy, sometimes a bit too worried, sometimes a bit too overthinking... I'm just a walker...
