1. According to the Vayu Purana, The Phalgu is the embodiment of Lord Vishnu himself.
2. In the Ramayanas, Sita had cursed the River and hence it has no water.
3. It is mandatory in Hinduism to offer Pindadan (religious service seeking salvation for the dead from the cycle of rebirth) on the banks of this river and take a dip.
4. Before attaining Enlightenment, the Buddha practiced asceticism for six years on the banks of this river.
