Nissan YD25 engines have a history of breaking timing chains, resulting in major engine damage. When the engine is pulled down, amongst other things, the simplex vacuum pump sprocket and spline are nearly always heavily worn. Engine Australia's Research and Development Team, observes that, 'The vacuum pump simplex sprocket and spline design on this engine are badly designed. We have determined that the duplex sprocket with the larger diameter and longer spline last much longer and show very little wear after comparable hours.' Engine Australia is now supplying a heavy duty duplex/duplex sprocket, chain, tensioner and guide kit that includes all the components to upgrade the simplex vacuum pump to a duplex pump.
