And this, friends, is one of the reasons why Walk Around Philadelphia proceeds in most any weather – you never know who you're going to meet out there on any given day in any given circumstance!
We originally had 30 walkers signed up to head out in two groups on Monday – but with the impending blizzard, that was down to 20 by the night before, and we ended up with a pile more cancellations & a few no-shows the morning of, leaving 5 of us to set out to undertake the perimeter walk from 63rd & Market towards the Airport.
It was amazing... including this particular encounter with what our birder pals think was a juvenile red tailed hawk who seemed as curious about us as we were about it!
Walk Around Philadelphia offers two cycles of long (~10mile) walks 'round the entire perimeter of the city every February & September (twelve segments spread over four weekends) – if you complete all twelve, you'll have circumnavigated the entire city.
Most folks start with just one segment or partial segment, and during the rest of the year we offer other shorter walks & events around the city's edge.
Our winter walk cycle is almost complete, and you're invited to join us at Cherry Street Pier on March 22nd for our Spring Celebration & Concert!
