In this video I'm comparing a Plexi-like tone dialed in on the Quilter ELEVATE to the Plexi 100W 1970 model on a Fractal FM3 with all knobs at noon (FM3 block reset). For the sake of pure "amp tone" comparison I bypassed the cab section of the ELEVATE and ran it through the cab section of the FM3. This is done by connecting the output of the ELEVATE to input 2 of the FM3 and running the signal of input 2 through the cab block of the FM3 and then into the output of the FM3. This way the FM3 amp block and the ELEVATE output share the identical cab block. I recorded a riff with different pickup selections and different guitar volume settings on a ditto looper which was connected directly to the guitar. This loop is then played in the video and an A/B switch is used to send the recorded guitar signal to either the FM3 input or the ELEVATE input. You can also see the input LEDs on the FM3 change from input 1 to input 2 when the A/B switch LED turns green and vice versa when it turns red. In the first half of the video I'm switching once after every full riff. In the second half of the video I'm switching randomly and more frequently.
