In this video I start the repair of a damaged centrifugal slurry pump.
The bearings had collapsed and done some damage to the housing. I start off by removing the old outer bearing races by gently arc air gouging through them. The circlip wouldn’t come out as it was mangled, I warmed it up to make it soft then I could chisel it out.
After I’d got the bearings removed I realise the bore for the bearings was worn oversize and was no good.
I decided it would be best to bore it out on the mill but before I could do that I had to make a plug that would fit in be other end so I could align it on the mill.
