Talaysia Cooper scored her first 1,000 points before she even started high school with the East Clarendon Wolverines, and during senior night she scored her 3,000th.
She did it in front of South Carolina Women's Basketball head coach Dawn Staley, who recruited her in middle school.
Cooper is set to play for Staley and the top-ranked Gamecocks in the fall, but not before she got to see her high school jersey retired in the gym where she’s made a lot of magic happen over the years.
Sumter Today is presented by the Sumter Opera House, University of South Carolina Sumter, and Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.
