"Unbelievably Funny" - TalkSPORT Gold 2001 Hawksbee and Jacobs

A radio interview with sports radio 1310's George Dunham goes wrong with comic effect.

Repeated on their 2001 Christmas show, Hawksbee and Jacobs (comedy duo on talkSPORT radio in the UK ) re-lived an interview with an American radio broadcaster, George Dunham.

In early 2001, a story in The Sun newspaper, UK, stated that Geri Haliwell (formerly Ginger Spice of the Spice Girls) was dating a young NBA basketball player named Dirk Nowitzki. A couple months earlier, Geri Halliwell had already been heavily rumoured to be dating another NBA star - Steve Nash.

So when this newer story came out, H&J decided to get U.S. sports radio star George Dunham live on their show, from across the Atlantic, to find out more. Unfortunately, George knows very little about the story... and as more of the outlandish facts of the The Sun article are revealed to George, it soon becomes apparent the story is "a pack of lies". (Rather interesting, - this story was over 10 years ago)

Soon, George starts to think that he's been "had", and (as George is not adversed to making fake phone calls of his own) makes his feeling known to H&J.

But be assured, this was meant to be a genuine, legitimate interview, not a "prank call" at all. It simply all goes wrong, with much comic effect. I remember listening to this live when it all first happened and it was, as a fellow Youtuber states, "unbelievably funny"
