South Korea's Second Vice Foreign Minister Lee Do-hoon on Wednesday, held talks in Washington with U.S. Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo, to discuss pending issues, including the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act.
According to Seoul's foreign ministry, Lee re-emphasized the South Korean government's position to resolve the issue, which will see the act punishing Korea's electric automakers as they won't be eligible for tax credits worth several thousand dollars like their North American counterparts.
They also agreed on the need to build a clean and resilient supply chain due to international challenges such as the pandemic, the war in Ukraine and the climate crisis.
Lee arrived in Washington this week to hold talks with U.S. officials on a number of economic issues, but mainly focused on the Inflation Reduction Act.
