Ram’s new 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six is quickly becoming one of the most talked about engines in the half-ton truck segment. But how does it actually compare to Ford’s 3.5L EcoBoost that has dominated the F-150 lineup for more than a decade?
In this video I take a closer look at both engines and break down 10 key differences between them. I also put the Ram 1500 Hurricane on the dyno to see what kind of real-world power it’s making at the wheels and compare my real towing experience with both trucks.
Both engines make serious power, both tow extremely well, and both represent the modern shift toward high-output twin-turbo gas engines in half-ton pickups.
