Do Trail Cameras Spook Deer Hunting Experiment. A Whitetail Deers nose is their defense mechanism. In this video I put multiple examples of how deer react to trail cameras in different situations. Depending on the deers personality it was interesting to see how each deer reacted a little bit differently. Some didn't mind at all and some didn't seem to be a fan. There's also a few things we can do to minimize our presence in the deer woods. Scent is the biggest one, after that trail cam placement would be my # 2. Going with a more discreet no glow trail camera can also big a difference maker. If your after an older class buck we want to do everything we can to keep the advantage. What I found was that human scent was the most important factor in the deer noticing the trail camera. If I had freshly touched it and been in the woods they acted the most on edge. If they just seen the trail camera and not smelled it it wasn't as big of a deal. A lot of situational factors play into this including hunting pressure. However I am still fan of and will be using them as a scouting tool in the future to put the odds in my favor.
