I met Igino Conforzi long time ago in 1981. I was student at that time while he was already graduate in modern trumpet. Immediately arose a sincere friendship and we began to play together. Our first concert for Trumpet and organ took place in Arrone, the village in Umbria where I grew up, in June, 1981!
Yes... 1981!!!
We were both strongly captivated by the musicological researches on ancient sources and both in love with the sound of early instruments. Like two young pioneers, we move to Bologna and we got a copy of the Fantini's treatise (no Petrucci Library nor digital libraries on that time...). Igino turned his interest to the Baroque Trumpet world and we performed several concerts together.
The picture with more hair on our heads is dated 1986 (concert in Acquapendende, near Orvieto). The one already with less hair (Perugia, 1992) belongs to the same period of the recording of the CD dedicated to Girolamo Fantini.
