In this variant, chess pieces don’t just capture — they **upgrade**. When a piece captures a power it doesn’t already have, it evolves into something stronger. Pawns can turn into major pieces, and knights can fuse abilities to become dangerous fairy pieces like the Archbishop, Chancellor, and Amazon. Every capture changes the balance of the board.
