It covers his defense of his life as a whole: he tries to show that he has benefited the Athenians. After that, it covers Socrates' counter-assessment: his argument concerning what he thinks the penalty should be for his "crimes." Finally, it covers Socrates' final speech to the jurors, in which he blames those who voted against him, and warns them of what is to come, while reassuring his friends.
