Donington Park Crashes/Highlights, BRSCC, 14/9/25

Описание: Day 2, worse weather and at least 4 cars rolling which is rare for a circuit event these days!

Race 3 for the Fiesta ST240 Championship was a 2-part affair after Maggie Wesbter caught the dreaded tire stack at the chicane sending the unfortunate Autograss star into a series of rolls that brought out the reds. The restart saw Gary Miller hold onto the lead he fought so valiantly to keep before the red flags, with John Cooper 2nd and Connor Blackburn 3rd.

Race 2 for the Fiesta Juniors was brutal! A stack up on lap 1 (and attempt at a race number 1) wiped out the luckless Oliver Heron and Harry Lindley. And the restart would see the unceremonious dumping of Dara McInerney and Jenson Pritchard in incidents that really didn't need to have happened. Another Doble 1-2 ended the race, Chris once again ahead of Isaac, with Lewis Islin in 3rd. Race 3 started in much damper conditions, but the aggression had been turned down a bit for this one. Regardless, drama still prevailed with Lewis Islin leading until a slight miscommunication perhaps under braking caused Chris Doble to punt Islin into the gravel at Redgate, giving Isaac Doble the win from Eden Spanswick and Jack Sant. In the end Chris Doble was disqualified for a move that on the footage at least, does look potentially accidental, if a bit clumsy. But these racers are new to circuit racing, so it's to be expected

The Clubsport Trophy race would be the first to be hit by the forecast rain which fell mid race and claimed a number of front runners. The Huggins/Huggins crew took the win in their Lotus Exige, from Alastair Lindsay's Audi TT in 2nd, penalized half a minute for a short stop, and the little Morgan of Kelly/Goshawk came home 3rd to give you one of the stranger podium selection of cars in recent times

The Northern Sports and Saloons joined us for the day and their final meeting of 2025, with Matty Cobb's Radical-Beetle (the Beetical as I call it) winning race 1 comfortably from Scott Hubel JUST before he was caught by Dan Kell, the ending of the race spiced up by the unfortunate detonation of Carl Hitchen's Clio at the old hairpin. Race 2 started after the rain fell and initially saw Alex Prentice lead in the VW Golf before Matty Cobb passed and vanished up the road. Hubel finished 2nd once again with Dan kell 3rd, but the fight for 4th between Prentice, Steve Kell and David Todd's Subaru kept us all entertained, eventually ending with Todd 4th, Steve Kell 5th and Prentice 6th.

Finally the C1 Endurance Series 3 Hour race finished the day, but all attempts had been made to shuffle it forward with the incoming heavy rain forecast to hit as the race started. This race might be the wettest race at Donington that I have ever seen remain green and might only be possible with a relatively standard road spec car that the little C1's aim to be. Aquaplaning conditions in multiple areas, yet the little Citroens soldiered on. And despite the odd roll we hardly ever stopped, with the race win coming down to a final few laps and a battle between WRC Developments and Baycon Racing, the former winning by under half a second at the flag. 3rd went the way of J W Bird Racing

Across the 3 days, these videos total a little over 1 hour. Enough for their own DVD if that was still a thing! Nice to see a number of competitors stopping to assist their overturned colleagues, of which there were around 5 or 6 across the weekend. Wild figures, and a number of incidents in here that can be learned from
