U.S. Navy sailor from Wisconsin charged with spying for China

Описание: Two U.S. Navy sailors were charged Thursday with providing sensitive military information to China — including details on wartime exercises, naval operations and critical technical material.

One of those sailors has been identified as Jinchao "Patrick" Wei, a 22-year-old sailor who has lived in Delavan, Wisconsin. A yearbook shows that Wei graduated from Delavan-Darien High School in 2019.

TMJ4 News stopped by his last known address in Delavan. The man who answered the door confirmed knowing Wei, but declined to speak with TMJ4 saying that he was expecting to be contacted by the government.

Friends of Wei still residing in Delavan tell TMJ4 he was kind, quiet and very intelligent. They say their reaction to hearing the news was total disbelief.
