Explosion Catches House On Fire In Antioch

At 9:23pm on Saturday July 20th, Contra Costa County Firefighters received calls about a Structure Fire in the City of Antioch in the 500 block of Woodmont Way. The caller reported hearing explosions. Several of our readers reported that they thought they heard fireworks before the fire.
Units arrived on scene to a structure on fire along with a vehicle in the drive way also on fire. Crews mobilized and began to make fire attack. In the end, crews were on scene for nearly 4-hours due to heavy mop up. 2 Dogs were saved from the fire.
Update - per fire investigator, fire was started by an explosion of some sort in the garage. Fire damages limited to home of origin, no other damages to neighboring homes.
