ALAN MOORHOUSE
Alan Moorhouse is a British composer and conductor, mainly known for his numerous pieces of library music, as well as for several TV and movie soundtracks.
He has written easy listening music under several pseudonyms (aliasses), and, in some cases, even shared the alias with his colleagues. (Eg the name "Oscar Brandenburg" was used not only by Moorhouse, but also by Johnny Pearson and Neil Richardson).
(One wonders how copyright issues were managed for these recordings ...?)
Moorhouse composed some very original themes and songs and never wanted his music to be "categorized". He made some albums as "Alan Moorhouse and His Orchestra" and these LP's are considered as being true collector items by fans of easy listening and mood music.
COOL WIND FROM THE NORTH
Appearing as title track on the 1977 released album "Never So Beautiful".
MHO
The song takes a majestical and swirling start with the strings offering a true symphonic sound and feel. The graciously implemented chorus parts are a nice counterpart versus the rhythmic sections and one can hear that maestro Moorhouse knows his business as an arranger. The theme brings the listener in a mood of open spaces, wideness and blue horizons. Otherwise said : music that will lift your spirit and that will invite you to dream..... even long after your listening session has ended ......
Enjoy !
