Featuring perspectives from The Institute for College Access & Success, The Education Trust - West, uAspire, and UC Merced’s HERE Lab, the session highlights the priorities needed to build a more equitable and student-centered financial aid system from application through awarding. Speakers discuss California’s progress toward increasing application rates and the role of universal completion policies, examine how financial aid can better cover the real costs of college, including housing and basic needs, and look ahead to a more cohesive and inclusive approach that recognizes financial need as complex and incorporates measures of wealth to better direct support to students who need it most.
