What does it mean to be "unhinged"? In a Western cultural context, we usually associate this word with being out of control, or even mentally unstable. But as Dr. Eva Natanya explains here, this term has quite a different connotation in guidance from Dudjom Rinpoche (and the Dzogchen teachings of Tibetan Buddhism in general).
"He's 'unhinged.' But what is he unhinged from? Dualistic modes of apprehension."
This clip is from a new talk from Dr. Eva Natanya, in which she unpacks Dudjom Rinpoche's famous prayer, "Spontaneous Song of the Indwelling: A Prayer Cried Out from Afar" (popularly known as "Calling the Guru from Afar"). Far from a religious doctrine based in unquestioned belief, this text explores aspects of the nature of reality that are discoverable through rigorous and dedicated contemplative inquiry—the sort of inquiry our long-term retreatants are training for here at the CCR North America.
This talk is now available through Seeds of Wisdom: the CCR's monthly giving option, where you support the CCR by cultivating your own genuine well-being.
Through Seeds of Wisdom, you gain access to expert guidance in contemplative practice, previously unreleased courses and retreats on the intersection of science and meditation, teachings specific to long-term retreat, and more—all while supporting the CCR's mission to fathom the mind and heal the world.
Seeds of Wisdom is updated with fresh content regularly, from teachings given at the CCR Mind Lab in Crestone, CO and elsewhere.
