Two landmark paintings of British Art will be unveiled publicly in Cork Street, Mayfair in the Alon Zakaim Fine Art Special Projects Window where they will be on public display day and night until the end of January 2026.
Breuer-Weil’s two triptychs, 'The Garden of Contemporary Delights' and 'The Golden Garden of Contemporary Delights' are based on a visit that the artist David Breuer-Weil recently made to the Prado in Madrid where he saw Hieronymus Bosch’s 'The Garden of Earthly Delights' first hand. The artist commented:
“I was craving to make contemporary versions of this insane, surreal, immense product of the human imagination that was searingly relevant to our times. How do you make surreal masterpieces today? By tapping into the first and most powerful surrealist masterpiece painted centuries before Surrealism became a movement, one that has morphed into a kind of neo-Surrealism amongst many artists of my generation, a most relevant contemporary language because it speaks both to the unconscious mind and current events. I have drawn and painted thousands of detailed images, animals, figures and people, each of which differs from the Bosch and updated for today’s crazy world. These two triptychs engaged me for hundreds of inspired hours”.

overall dimensions: 230 x 380cm
Breuer-Weil visited Madrid in the summer of 2024. During several visits to the Prado he conceived the idea of making two different contemporary versions of Bosch’s 'The Garden of Earthly Delights' and of the same scale. However, every one of the thousands of details is transformed and made of searing relevance to the contemporary world.
Filled with significant detail, it is a vast panorama of the challenges of contemporary life conceived as a reinterpretation of the subjects of Creation, Original Sin, The Garden of Eden, the pleasures of the flesh, and Hell found in the original, with every detail different.
Also featured is a further interpretation by Breuer-Weil of Bosch's painting entitled ''The Golden Garden of Contemporary Delights.'
